The RoboPisces MOOC

The “RoboPisces MOOC” aims at enabling primary school teachers to advance their teaching and technical skills to successfully introduce educational robotics in schools.  The RoboPisces MOOC and Teachers Training Manual have been built upon the teachers’ training activities during the RoboPisces projects. It will provide teachers with helpful information for mastering the RoboFish toolkit and the RoboPisces Educational Curriculum.
The “RoboPisces Teachers Training Manual” includes:

  • The pedagogical approach adopted by the RoboPisces project reinforces students to become creators of knowledge within the framework of meaningful learning activities.
  • Guidelines for Open Educational Resources (OER) in robotics education in primary schools.
  • Policy Recommendations aiming at orienting policymakers to adopt priorities in the educational policies for introducing the application of educational robotics at school to reinforce the engagement of students with STEAM subjects and the effectiveness of the learning process.
  • Innovative ways of teaching Educational Robotics STEAM in Primary Schools.
  • Guidelines for 3D printing in schools with RoboPisces.
  • Glossary of Technical Terms.

The curriculum and the MOOC is divided into Basic and Advanced topics. The Basic curriculum focuses on fundamental notions of educational robotics.  The Advanced curriculum deals with the marine environment, marine robotics, robot and sensors networks, and IoT (IO2).

The basic topics are prerequisites for the advanced topics, and they are:

The advanced topics follow the basic topics, and they are:

The basic topics are prerequisites to the advanced topics. Make sure you have already had some practice with the RoboFISH basic toolkit, both hardware and software, before facing advaced topics.
